You omit to mention quite an important herpesvirus, HHV-8 which is linked to the development of Kaposi's sarcoma in HIV +ve patients.
With herpes simplex virus, both type 1 and type 2 can cause either oral-labial or genital disease. The cold sore is reactivation just like shingles, the primary disease is a nasty gingivo-stomatitis and/or pharyngitis. Most importantly HSV can cause a nasty encephalitis, mostly affecting the temporal lobe which requires antiviral treatment.
You haven't gone into the process of "latency" either.
