h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

There are two Hitchcock movies that I really love that very rarely ever get seen in the UK. First is 'Lifeboat' - a very tense story set during the Second World War. Legendary Hollywood diva Tallulah Bankhead stars as one of a small group of survivors stranded in the middle of the ocean in one tiny lifeboat. As the film progresses, several of the survivors go to join the fishes...

My other favourite 'lost' Hitchcock is called 'Stage Fright', and was made in 1950. It stars a cavalcade of huge movie talents - British 'stiff upper lip' actor Richard Todd, comedy genius Alistair Sim, the marvellous and dotty Joyce Grenfell, and then Hollywood legends Jane 'I used to be married to Ronald Reagan' Wyman and the inestimable Marlene Dietrich.

Both of them are definitely well worth a watch if you ever get the chance!

I'd like to add 'The Trouble With Harry' to the list of Hitchcock's 'lost' (at least underrated) films. A visually stunning, very funny film which gave Shirley McLaine her first film role.
'Young and Innocent' - a kind of re-run of 'The 39 Steps' is also worth hunting out if you don't know it already.
