bha stands for bhava :expression
ra for raga: melody
ta for tala: rythm
natyam means drama
and the recital is a presentation of purity

Nicely explained. Although, there has been some longstanding dispute about the meaning of "Bharatanatyam"; a lot of people simply accept it means "Indian dance".
I've never been quite convinced by that, in part because it's a dance closely identified with the South and with Tamil speakers, for whom "Bharat-Natyam" would not have this meaning; I also like your explanation better!
