You don't need to be nominated by a server admin to become operator in IRCnet, everybody who starts a new channel (and anybody can do that) becomes operator for the channel and the channel operators can nominate others for operators for that channel.
And you might mention that Oikarinen is finnish, but that's not a big thing.
