It's definately one of my favourite films - great soundtrack, surreal plot, and lots of small jokes and things you notice on each repeat viewing. When I get a DVD player I'm definately going to get it on DVD.
I also went out of my way to see the re-release in the cinema last year. I loved it on the big screen, and normally I don't see films in the cinema that I've seen before.

I watched the let it be film again the other day, that's quite interesting, it would be nice to see an complete uninterupted film of the consert they did on the stuido roof,
There's a few films I'd like to see on the big screen, 2001 for a start I read the book at the end of last year and loved it, I started 2010 oddessy two, and am loving that too

Bluebottle Posted Apr 1, 2001
I really would like to see the "Let It Be" film - it's the one Beatle's film that I've not seen, nor have I been able to find anywhere.
I enjoyed "2010" the novel as well, I've been trying to find it on VHS lately, but haven't found it anywhere, alas. Only on an extraless DVD, or there's the American DVD which is a bit better, but as yet I do not have a DVD player.
I was disappointed by Arthur C. Clarke's last two books in the Odyssey series - "3001" was frankly appalling.

that's a shame, I see 2001 is being shown in the cinemars this summer, well at least I think I saw something that it would be, I saw 2010 once a long time ago and only after I'd seen 2001 once a while before that and not remembering much about it,
so what so dissapointing about the last two?
the let it be film I've got is a bootleg version and unfortunalty the shop has since closed down, its a shame there was some good stuff there
We love it
Bluebottle Posted Apr 6, 2001
Alas, that always seems to happen. I find a great shop, and it closes within 2 months to be replaced by yet another clothes shop.
But I'm definately looking forward to seeing "2001" in the cinema, if I can find out where it's being shown.
"2061: Odyssey Three" isn't too bad, but what I found disappointing about the last one is that it seems that 3/4s of it is just quotes from the other 3, and what there is there contradicts the other 3 novels completely. And the ending is just terrible. Most of the time Arthur C. Clarke is just giving a lecture on "How evil the 20th Century is, how we do nothing but go around mutilating people, how the 20th century was the worst time in human history, how belief in God is Evil", then he is re-writing "Fountains of Paradise" with his Space Elevator obsession. I won't mention what the contradictions are yet or what the ending is as I don't want to spoil it for you. But, alas, it spoilt the series for me.

yeah its a real pitty about that shop
the only thing about 2010 that I haven't liked so far was that the chinise ship encountered a lifeform, other than that its not quite as good as I enjoyed the first, I will read on and the last two,
as for spoiling the series I felt the same about the planet of the apes the first is truely great the rest haven't quite got the same quality about them.
I haven't really read that much science fiction, just really got around to it, and found out how good it is, I read the wizzards of odd in the end, the middle section, swords and sourcery (I've just noticed swords is spelt, s words) I wasn't so keen on but the rest I loved, I've been alternating with discworld novels and other books.

Bluebottle Posted Apr 12, 2001
I'd definately continue reading the series, afterall, your opinion may differ - I just found it a little disappointing, that's all. But there were good points to them, just not up to the original standard.
Let me know how you find them.
I read "The Wizards Of Odd" last year and was on the whole impressed with it all, but I can't remember which stories were in the "Swords and Sourcery" section... It is true, though, that I found "The Flying Sourcerers" to be disappointing compared to it - and that was mainly fantasy, and not science-fiction. But then, it mainly depends on who the author is. Although that rule doesn't really apply to Arthur C. Clarke - I tend to prefer his earlier work.

Oh yeah I'll read all the series and possibly the lost worlds of 2001,
I read jekyll and hyde not so long ago I bought the book a long time ago but now I've started reading again, saying that I've been reading again now for nearly two years, I've got round to reading its not bad not like any movie I've seen of it, I read some sherlock homles a few years ago, its quite interesting how some of the older books and films come to think of it, are set up to how they are these days
We love it
Bluebottle Posted Apr 18, 2001
I enjoyed "The Lost Worlds" more than "3001", strangely enough.... Maybe because I am interested in the idea of how a story develops. But I've been reading pretty much non-stop since I was about 10. I doubt a day has gone by without me having at least one book I'm trying to get through - at the moment I'm reading a history of Hadrian's Wall. It's interesting, but as I've never seen Hadrian's Wall it doesn't mean that much to me.
Have you heard that they've released a limited edition bootleg 17 CD set of all the out-take tracks from the "Let It Be/Get Back" sessions that's 19 hours long called "Thirty days"? I wish I was able to get my hands on that!

I like idea's what if this......., and what if that.........., but i quite like the way things evolve how this got to be that etc
i seen to go through stages of reading i remember when i was young I'd be up all hour reading books, but then I would be reading for a long time
no I haddn't heard I do have a bootleg cd called something like the get back album sessions, which has a couple of tracks called the walk and link track, but I know how you feel I have got george's the consert for banladesh, which isn't bad, and I see all things must pass has come out with four new tracks, or alternative versions
We love it
Bluebottle Posted Apr 19, 2001
You can see the basic tracklist here:

It definately seems to be one to get if only I could afford it - and knew where they were selling it!
I'm seriously thinking of getting the new "All Things Must Pass" - afterall, it is a great album in it's own right, and my tape of it is a little "scratched" now... Hopefully I get paid next week!
