Thank you dear MMF, for this fascinating entry.
I have learnt a lot. I thought that the plural of Opus was Opuses!! I did think that the Opus number was determined according to the period when they comppsed the music. I think that would be an easier way to deal with it than to lump the Opp. according to the category of the composition.
