Ah.. : WAKE UPPPPPPP!!!!!!!
No sleeping on a Startrek-forum....sleep is the first thing that goes out the window when you are a Trekkie or a Trekker.
BTW : I prefer Trekkie because in Dutch a Trekker is something completely different...

I think that there would be a more consitent following if the Beeb showed the series as a SERIES, instead of playing Morse Code with the scheduling. With DS9 especially, with it's story arc, you watch an episode, which may end not fully resolved, and then find it's off for three weeks for some "sporting" event. We are told that these events are of major National interest and importance. Why, then, when they were screening Crown Bowls were there only about 50 people in the audience? I've seen more people watch a Trek episode in one place!

Worse, in Scotland just over a year ago we missed a whole SERIES of DS9 for "culturally important local Gaelic programming", most of which was a low-grade teenage studio-based show more suited to Saturday mornings or at least a 4pm timeslot... To add insult to injury, it was listed as DS9 in "Scottish" issues of the Radio Times, with the Gaelic programmes shown as a "regional variation" in small print at the side.
I have always been of the opinion that if a programme is so important to the schedules that it needs to replace an existing one, it should replace a programme of the same type - i.e. sports specials should be shown instead of existing sports coverage, NOT sci-fi or light entertainment...

Same in Holland. No logical sequence whatsoever. That's why I'm collecting all the videos...

I guess I was meant to find this discussion one of these days. Haven't seen it until today, because of vacation with no access to computers.
Anyhow, one thing that I've found to be excellent since I moved here from Sweden, is that they actually air the Star Trek shows. Sweden has a history of stubborn resistance against anything Star Trek when it comes to movies and tv series. The Swedish tv channels started airing Voyager about two years ago, but before that, except for a planned airing of all the TOS-movies that was cancelled after they showed the first two movies and noone watched them because they were shown at around ten to midnight mid-week, I haven't seen anything of Star Trek on either tv or in the movies.
Okay, if you were lucky, some local video rental store would have a copy of each of the movies, but nothing from the series.
This changed slightly when Generations was released, since the cinema companies finally decided to put it up on the big screen. And that decision proved to be a correct one, as they also decided to put Insurrection up on the big screen as well when that was released. That's when the tv series were accepted a bit more and they started airing Voyager.
So you can imagine my delight when I finally get to see three Star Trek episodes each week. That is if there's no "Sporting Event of National Importance" like the world indoor bowls championships on at those scheduled times.
I think I need to get back to "work" now. NOthing to do, but they still pay me, so I'm happy.

I was still very annoyed with Babylon 5 being shown at different times each week on Channel 4, then ending the series halfway through and showing the rest early morning on the Big Breakfast! I didn't want to see a BB logo all the way through a classic sci-fi series. I can't wait to have my own TV so I can continue to record all of Babylon 5 - like many people I was put off by the first series and stopped watching it, but having seen more I really enjoy it.
You really need to watch all of it at once to understand and enjoy it all.

I know exactly what you mean. Shazz has the complete Babylon5 on video(she taped them all on longplay-vids). I have now seen about 30 episodes and they're finally getting somewhere.
As for Sweden well...I think they must be the only country in the whole bloody world not to air all the series. It is part of television-history, like it or not Marwood ! Of course not all of the episodes are great but that goes for every series...
BTW : heard this on yet ?
Steven Spielberg wants to make the movie to end all movies about classical composers so he asks Silly Stallone, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger to star in it. They meet and Spielberg asks them which composer they would like to be. Stallone says : 'I've always liked Mozart, I want to be Mozart'. Bruce Willis says : "Well I prefer Chopin so let me play Chopin, good for my image as an intelligent actor...' So Spielberg says : 'And you Arnold ?' Arnold replies : 'I'll be Bach'.
