This applied even to the moments when the PA was too loud and I felt a piercing feeling in my ears and I covered them with my hands.
That was considered to be a bad thing by the deaf adults who had no idea how painful their sounds could be to a child. Now I know that it was made worse by the fact that I am an Aspergers.
