Many points to refute.
1. Tractor pulling is popular in Europe, Australia, and Canada as well as in the U.S.
2. It has nothing to do with U.S. farm policy. Tractor pulling started many years ago before the current subsidy system was put into place. Very little actual farm equipment is used in tractor pulling these days and no farmers I know have much free time.
3. The "trailer", actually called a sled, is configured to shift the weight off the wheels and onto a skid plate as it is pulled down the track. This makes it harder to pull the farther you go. The water you may have seen being put on the track is to keep down dust not to make the track slippery.
4. Tractor pulls are held at county fairs but also at major sporting venues in the U.S.
5. Hey, you got one right. People at county fairs do care whose sheep won this year. Maybe you don't care but they do.
6. Tractor pulling is at least as exciting as any other kind of motor sport. Maybe slightly more interesting when you know that the driver probably actually built and maintains his vehicle unlike most racing.
