Lots of comments here about Balti restaurants etc. I am collecting reviews so please give me a click sometime to see what is being recommended in Birmingham and Solihull. AND don't forget to send a review after your own Balti meal!

As I live in the Balti Belt I have tried loads. I'm so lazy I can't be bothered to go the offy so I use Sher Khan as it has a drinks licence...avoid the one across the road...Tandori best Balti in town cause it's not...

I recommend "The Royal Naim" which is just up the hill and across the road from "Sher Khans". Best Balti I've ever had. No drinks licence mind you.

You can't sneeze in Stirchley without dirtying the window of a Balti House. I personally recommend the Balti's served at Imran's, which has a good atmosphere and a similarly decent pub within leaping distance (the Three Horseshoes).
For the foreign traveller, Stirchley can be found a short walk/even shorter bus ride from Cadbury World.

I have a nagging feeling that the pub at which my Brother used to work was the three horseshoes...does it have a beer garden/car park overlooking the canal?

Anyhow - the "Royal Naim" won Balti house of the year when I was there about 8 years ago and I still haven't eaten a better curry....mmm.

It was The Country Girl. Also whatever the place on Dogpool road was called before it became the Giant and Firkin. Not a Balti within five miles.

The GIANT & Firkin? Have they finally run out of words beginning with F and PH?
Don't know where Dogpool road is, but I do know that The Country Girl does overlook some kind of running water and that the Three Horsehoes doesn't. It has an inspiring view of the Co-op.

The pub on Dogpool lane was originally called the Hibernian. I don't know what it was called after that - but either way that is in Bearwood, which is an entirely different neck of the woods.

It was the name of an Irish giant - the Finn and Firkin, the Fergus and Firkin. Stupid name change whatever.Years ago it was called the Dogpool hotel (letters still visible on the facade)
I second the vote for Naim's. They claim to have invented the stuff.

If you are too lazy to go to an offy first can I suggest you go to the Shebab on the Ladypool Road whose waiters have been known to pop over to the George to get customers a pint.

It is at the pinacle of Customer Service.
