1. Start the entry with ‘this’ rather than 'the'.

2. <>
It's just a few miles east of the city of Burgos in Castilla y Léon, but there are a few visitors.

3. <>
In 1994, at Gran Dolina, a collection of human fossils were discovered that were estimated to be 800,000 years old.

4. Your use of east, west etc should the first letter be capitalised?

5. << Near the town of Santillana del Mar is a series of caves painting with astonishing figures of bison and boar.>>
Near the town of Santillana del Mar is a series of caves painted with astonishing figures of bison and boar.

6. How do you know it was a male artist?

7. I wonder whether the following sentence is too big.
<>

8. I’ve been warned about starting a sentence with ‘while’, if you can avoid it perhaps you should.

9. <> which alphabet? The one we know today that goes from A to Z?

10. In what year was Gadir renamed Cadiz?

11. <>
This is rather a long sentence consider breaking it down and do you mean ‘powerful’ rather than <>?

12. assualt = assault

13. Hasbrubal. Hasdrubal's – the spelling of the name here has changed slightly.

Thanks, Opti, but this won't be ready for reviewing until the Sub has been at it smiley - smiley

In any case:

1. Start the entry with ‘this’ rather than 'the'.

I'll be starting the Entry with a more prosaic introduction. As it is, it's just very dull.

2. <>
It's just a few miles east of the city of Burgos in Castilla y Léon, but there are a few visitors.

No. If you say 'there are a few visitors', you're saying 'some people visit'. If you say 'there are few visitors', you're saying that hardly anyone visits. It's a completely different emphasis.

4. Your use of east, west etc should the first letter be capitalised?

No, because they're not proper nouns. You'd say, for example, 'East Anglia' because that's the name of a region, but 'south Devon' where you're referring to a geographical area.

6. How do you know it was a male artist?

I don't. It's artistic license. If I wrote 'The painter mixed his or her colours using blood, ochre, and animal fat, and used a brush made of animal hair. In an extra bit of artistic flair, he or she considered the contours of the rocky wall he or she was painting on, incorporating the bumps and insets into his or her design to give the figures three-dimensional muscular bulges.' it would lose all the impact.

7. I wonder whether the following sentence is too big.
<>

I don't think so. I could replace the commas with semi-colons, but I'll leave that up to the Sub.

8. I’ve been warned about starting a sentence with ‘while’, if you can avoid it perhaps you should.

I've never heard that. The second example of usage on Answers.com at http://www.answers.com/while&r=67 gives an example starting a sentence with it.

10. In what year was Gadir renamed Cadiz?

It wasn't. It was spelled Gades in Latin, and presumably the name was bastardised by the Moors later on, and again by the Christians. Names of towns usually evolve rather than changing overnight.

11. <>
This is rather a long sentence consider breaking it down and do you mean ‘powerful’ rather than <>?

It's already broken down by the semi-colon. I do mean 'a power' in the same way that you could describe America now as a 'world power'.

Thanks for reading, anyway smiley - cheers

Oh, query away! I got most of the early reviewing out of the way with my Sub:

So I reckon any more will have to wait for PR smiley - winkeye

I'm confused, having not done a Uni project that I recall. Should you not put them in PR before a sub looks at it? smiley - erm

I'm slowly working through all the people mentioned in Madonna's 'Vogue' song and that's a bit like a Uni project, but they are going through PR first.

You should know by now I have a memory like a sieve at times. smiley - ta for the link. smiley - smiley

Not sure whether the 'Vogue' stuff would be right as a Uni project as there were a lot of silver screen icons.
