Summer Solstice Blues
I go walkin' at midnight to get away from the heat.
By 10 in the mornin' I'm already beat.
Too hot to work, an' too hot to eat.
I got the temperature's-higher,
My-feet-are-on-fire,
It's-time-to-perspire
Summer Solstice Blues.
The garden is dyin' 'cause we need some rain.
The house is a-fryin', I'm in such pain.
I'm countin' the days 'til it's cool again.
I got the head-is-a-achin',
The-body-is-bakin',
Forlorn-an'-forsaken
Summer Solstice Blues.
My hair is all frizzlin', my neck's gettin' fried.
My t-shirt is sizzlin' an' smells like somethin' has died.
It feels like the sun's rays are tannin' my hide.
I got the heat-makes-me-queasy,
Gaspin'-an'-wheezy,
Cooked-over-easy
Summer Solstice Blues.
Lordy, I got the blues!
Yeah, Mama, I got the blues.
It's too hot to think.
Need more ice for my drink.
The skeeters are bitin'.
(Did I just see lightnin'?)
I'm burnt and beet-red
But I got the blue-ue-ue-ue-uesss...
I go walkin' at midnight to get away from the burnin'.
No sense in sleepin', it's just toss an' turnin'.
It's gonna get hotter, that much is certain.
I got the soaked-through-with-sweat,
Just-how-hot-can-it-get,
IS-IT-AUTUMN-YET!?!
Sum-um-mer
Sol-ol-stice
Blue-ue-ue-ue-uessss.
