Two typical examples:
In India he visited the scene of the Armister Massacre (where the British opened fire on thousands of locals) he reviewed the monuments inscription and launched into a debate with his host arguing that the death toll was not that high. Talk about building bridges....
Post the Dunblane massacre (where 16 schoolchildren where butchered by a gun toting lunatic) he argued that the focus on introducing restrictions on Gun owners was wrong as someone could have gone eqeually beserk with a cricket bat, but noone is calling for a ban on cricket bats.

On Dunblane he probably had a point, even if his comment was badly timed.

You are joking me? Right? Your Baiting me. Someone could walk into a school, and butcher 16 people with a cricket bat in 10 minutes?

I think the point was that most objects can be classified as a weapon if used aggressively (especially by a madman), hence the clamp down on anything remotely sharp etc being taken on board an air craft.

ya...thats logic for you...tell that to the people who are presently being sniped, in the states....lets hope the sniper comes to his senses and uses a real weapon.....like, say.......a cricket bat.....

A cricket bat still being a more effective weapon than say a variety of salt water fish being flung at people - more smelly than deadly.
