Phoenix TV's popular and well-respected program hostess, Ms Zheng
Zimai, was most recently allowed into Lhasha for a review of the aftermath of the "3.14 Incident" interviewing common folks she ran into and victims she sought out. This short documentary was shown last night.
Many buildings were torched, shops looted and people both Han Chinese and Tibetans hospitalized. One family whose home was burned was saved by a Tibetan old woman who disguised the couple and their children in Tibetan attire hiding them in her home.
There were about 1,000 victims left homeless and were temporarily quartered at a government-run shelter administered by Tibetans - mostly Han Chinese but also other minorities such as Hui. Those who wished to return home were waiting for train tickets to be purchased by funds provided by the TAR government.
Most Tibetans interviewed including taxi drivers and waiters attributed the riot and damages to no more than couple hundred rioters. These ordinary working Tibetans all condemend such violence which robbed them of their job and livelihood.
Meanwhile, Dalai Lama who preaches non-violence when facing the western world is in the U.S. anchoring a conference on "Seeds of Compassion" when he will give a speech on "The Science of Compassion". Wow !!!
Such deceit and hyprocracy - being the spiritual leader while simultaneously acting as the head of the Tibet Government In-Exile,
mixing religion with real politics, protesting of China's human right record as pretext of his Tibet Movement for independence, preaching non-violence when the results of his preaching directly led to violence and atrocity (or did he say he would resign as head of the exiled government
if violence continues, or he is saying such no more?)
Could it simply be naivette that the movie stars, polticians and the liberal-minded so easily taken in by this grandmaster of western spin?

Or could it be that China has itself to blame for turning Tibet into Gaza?
