Or perhaps "Trees Are Bald"
Or perhaps "Geting colder"
Or perhaps "Not Summer"
Or perhaps "Nearly Winter"
Just as silly as "Fall" anyway

Apparently, referring to autumn as "the fall" was originally British. According to Bill Bryson (in either Mother TOngue or Made In America, both very good books) it was an Elizabethan expression that died out in Britain but continued in America. I think there are numerous other Elizabethan expressions that America continued using long after Britain stopped.
