Hello Nexton,

You may be interested in two volumes (recent publications) that give lots of information on the subject

1. "The Devil's Disciples" (The Lives and Times of Hitler's Inner Circle)

Author: Anthony Read.

I found this book fascinating. It is well worth reading.

Did you know that Hermann Goring had a "lovematch" marriage to a Swedish countess?
Who would have thought that of such an evil man?

2. "Until the Final Hour" (Hitler's Last Secretary)

Author: Traudl Junge
Edited by: Melissa Muller

This is excellent and tells the story of the secretary who remained with Hitler right up until the final act in the Berlin Bunker.
Again - well worth reading.

I hope you will find them useful and of course enjoy.

Regards
Roger

"The evil secretary," turns out to be not quite as evil as you may think

Not he............she.

Reading the book concerning this secretary, leaves some doubt as to whether she was as evil as the rest or not.

She was cleared of any war crimes at Nuremberg.

I have a new tehory, or maybe one that i heard somewhere but I don't know. Everyone is evil it's just a question of how evil you are. e.g the drug user/ ex convict/ freedom fighter etc etc could be the nicest person you'd ever meet but the pope for example could be sent by the devil. I don't know how that would work but It's a theory.

Hi Job,

That theory takes us to the "original sin," concept.

According to Christian theology it was started by a woman smiley - smiley

I suppose it all depends what religious context the theory is applied?

If I were to act on all my evil impulses......We'll just say the world is safer because I have the little bit of impulse control that I do.
We are ALL capible, on some level, of doing those terrible things were looking down uppon. I better meditate on that one.

Would any one gas a baby? Would anyone gas a baby if someone was holding a gun to your head?

On my own free will, no way. As for the gun, I've never had one pointed at me hostialy, I have no idea how I would react. If it were my own baby they would have to shoot me and do it themselves.

Precarious.

I would have to be pushed beyond a point that I can now comprehend to do things of that nature.

Do you think military personal following orders still bare responsibility?

Nexton,

During the Nuremberg Trials, several of those on trial - eg. concentration and death camp guards state that they were only following orders.

This was taken as invalid because any soldier has the right to question an order, if it is considered immoral or even against the law.

I suppose though that in a state of action in war this could be debated?

Not in a police state it isn't. In a police state if you question an order then you're taken to a ditch an never seen again (as my history teacher says).

He also says: Joeseph Goebbels- a man so deidcated, he killed his wife.

I believe lotsa people were cleared of wrong doing based on the fact that they were just following orders. ? .
I would think it hard to be a loyal soldier to any leader who would make you do things obviously immoral, however, the truth of the consiquences of that decision are probably as Job describes.

At what point do you risk your own life for a plight of righteousness?

Depends what you believe righteousness is.

Job,

Did he also mention that Magda Goebbles killed all of their children, before committing suicide?

I agree with your history teacher about a police state.

It is sad that societies have learned nothing from history. Many disgusting regimes exist all over the world. Most likely won't change though. The human race have wage war and committed atrocities since the dawn of time.

Yes he did. Maybe if we all just knocked down all the cities and grew massive trees and stuff then everyone went round doing what they wanted in their own little tribes. We could all devolve!
