A Conversation for The Years of Billy Joel's 'We Didn't Start The Fire' - 1950
TV - Philo T. Farnsworth

I didn't think this was still being hotly debated. It's my understanding that Philo T. Farnsworth is now credited with TV's invention. He was the first inventor to broadcast an image (a dollar sign $ made of 60 horizontal lines). He also invented the disector tube which is used in all modern TVs. He lost several patent battles with RCA but RCA used its considerable wealth and power and even blatant lies to win. He died in relative obscurity in 1971 but since that time and especially since the 75th anniversary of television, historians (or at least those working for The History Channel and Time Magazine) have tried to correct this.
