A Conversation for Physics and the Knowledge of Ignorance

Brilliant article, but on a point of trivia, my old physics teacher was fond of mentioning the factoid that Einstein never wore socks. I say "factoid" because I've never been able to check it - but given the general level of genius, plus the hair, socklessness would probably be par for the course. Can anyone back me up on this, or was my physics teaching pulling our legs?
