A Conversation for Jamming

At one point in his life and in his autobiography, Miles commented that he felt any musician who was playing just for himself, i.e. not jamming, would never play truth in music. He even criticized some of John Coltrane's compositions that just had him on his own, and no other band members or fellow jammers. Interesting how this form of music takes the individual's ownership away from the music and gives it to the group !
