Cajuns in Texas

Post 1

Steve K.

Here in Houston, Texas, Cajun food and music and people are very much appreciated.

On the music, I saw the link to Andy Kershaw, and while I don't recognize the first name, I suspect a connection to Doug Kershaw, a Cajun fiddler whose (vinyl!) albums I own and love.

On the food, well, where do I start, its all good smiley - biggrin There must be hundreds of Cajun restaurants in Southeast Texas, and I don't recall a bad one. Although none are quite as good as one I visited near the Destrahan-Luling Ferry (on the Mississippi River north of New Orleans) once, many years ago. My (Belgian-Lithuanian American) wife even tries her hand at Cajun gumbo, which I think is great, but a friend says okra-style is not his style of gumbo ... I tried his, I'll go with the okra.

From a selfish perspective, I'm glad a lot of the Cajuns ended up on the U.S. Gulf Coast. smiley - ok
