A Conversation for Daniel O'Connell

O'Connel House in Kerry

Post 1

Lucky Llareggub - no more cannibals in our village, we ate the last one yesterday..

Your article brought back some beautiful memories. Driving round the Ring of Kerry 2 years ago, just past Waterford where we had 4 lovely days and saw several dolphins in the bay, we came upon the O'Connel residence and its incredible gardens with sub-tropical plants. In a shed adjacent the house we saw the carriage in which O'Connel was paraded! Nearby was a lovely sandy beach and a coastal path along undulating hillocks. Quite enchanting, the whole thing. In fact we had 2 fantastic weeks in Eire and diverted from our intended route on leaving Galway to enjoy the music, the great company and the craic at Kilfenora, the home of Irish music, in County Clare.
