A Conversation for The 1960s - an Introduction
Yes, it was special

I was born in 1951.
As the Entry already shows; it was very special, the 60's.
Romantic, surrealistic, psychedelic, experimental, anti-establishment.
Everyting was debated.
I lived in a Van in the street with my dog Astrid.
But the 60's also had their dark sides;
Heavy drugaddiction, vain and spoiled middle-class peoples dominated all of society, all kinds of small criminality had found its way to make it possible "to survive", academic education had lost a lot of content,etc. etc.
A whole generation refused to grow up. It was a statement.
Everything had a political meaning.
I joined; but have very mixed feelings about the 60's.
And its very well, we live in different times now, although unthinkable without the influence of the 60's revolution.

Yes it was ... interesting. The Chinese have a saying, "May You Live in Interesting Times". They consider it a curse.

One of the most interseting things these days is, that for the younger generation the world has become a global village and they have a huge cultural baggage because of television and internet.
They can mix it in the way they want it to mix.

Rectification;
One of the most interesting things these days is, that for the younger generation the world has become a global village and they have a huge cultural baggage because of television and internet.
They can mix it in the way they want it to mix.
