A Conversation for The Battle of Trafalgar
"Master & Commander"

"Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World" is a favorite movie of mine, mostly because it depicts the onboard life of officers and crew in "Nelson's Navy". Nelson himself is discussed as a godlike figure, and at one point during dinner a young officer asks Captain Aubrey to tell a story about his meeting Nelson. As Aubrey sets up the story, the entire group gets very hushed, almost reverent. The story concludes:
"Then Nelson looked me in the eye, and said (slight pause) 'Aubrey... may I trouble you for the salt? '" [all the officers roar with laughter; Aubrey himself is nearly in tears from laughing so hard] "I've always tried to say it exactly as he did ever since! "
