A Conversation for Divisibility

If you start off with a number like 42 and divide by 2 and get 21 and then divide by 2 and get 10.5 and then divide by 2 and get 5.25 and so on ad infinitum it seems to me that you can never ever come to 0 or Zero.
If I foolishly leap from a 42 storey building, and do the above mental arithmetic on the way down I will still hit the ground, ie - point 0 or Zero, pretty quickly - splat! How come? In theory I should never reach the ground.
