Caring for old people
Caring for old people is not an easy job, when it come to toileting and putting them into bed. You cant say 'I'm not going to do that' when you're working with them, there are some things they can ddo for themselves, but they cant do it all by theirself. Thats were the carers come into it, you might not think it is a nice job to do, having to take them to the toilet and put them to bed, but when you have done it for a while, you get used to it, and it's also good for them too, because being old and not having good mobility, your like a member of there familey coming to visit them.
Of all the time I done the job myself, there are a few people I work with whose family does not visit them, I donot ask them why, because that might upset them, and to be quit honest,it's none of my buisiness anyway.
Caring for disabled people
Caring for disabled people is harder than caring for old people. It's sometimes abit hard to understand what it is they want, or where they want to go.
Most people think that disabled people are just taken shopping or what ever, will they are, but we dont just take them anywhere, they tell us where they want to go and we take them. But as I said, it's not an easy job, so if you are thinking of caring for disabled people, maybe you should find out what you are going to land yourself into before appying for a job as a carer.
We have had lots of carers who have joined and found out it's not as easy or as nice as they thought, and so they away, and we dont see them again.
