I've been a big fan for years of C&H. I think my major
reason is that Bill W. really captured and maintained
a child's perspective on the world. Very unusual for
an adult, cartoonist or otherwise, to do this so consistently
in a "child's strip" (ostensibly) without getting terribly
silly in the process, particularly as the years have gone by
(like Peanuts, for example).

I agree with you. Watterson said that Calvin is the complete opposite of what he was, so I'm not sure how he did it!

A lot of the strips were only funny because of how odd a child's vision is. Have you seen the one where about a dozen panels are spent doing all sorts of things, from gazing at the stars to digging and at the end Calvin says 'We didn't accomplish half of our itenirary'
