A Conversation for NationStates - the Internet Game
The NS regional community and Alliances [well, some of them]

The article is a great guide to how the NS game works, however it only touches briefly on the greater NS community, of which, I'm proud to be a part of.
Last year, I created a region called the New Inquisition, and we've grown to be one of the largest regions in the game. However doing this takes a lot of effort. Firstly, you have to iether be extremely committed to recruiting new nations, or not have a life so that you can do little else. The game NS, I believe gets boring after a while, as many of the same issues appear more than once; this is why people have formed smaller groups of regions that have broken away from the feeders in order to start an active community of their own.
While the feeder regions of The Pacific, The North Pacific, The South Pacific, The West Pacific and the East Pacific do very well, many smaller regions have sprung out of the woodwork and maintained their status in the NS world. these include-
Gatesville
The Lexicon
Great Britain and Ireland
Empires of Earth
The New Inquisition
The Land of Kings and Emperors
Many of these regions are a part of larger alliances such as The Congress of Sovereigns and the ACCEL [Alliance of Capitalists, conservatives and economic liberatarians]. My region is a member of both of these alliances.
The alliances serve to form military and intelligence pacts, where support is provided to a region in need if they or one of their colonies are under attack.
The CoS is a pact of 4 imperialist regions designed to look after each others interests in the NS world at large and since its creation last november has been incredibly important.
Many people have theories to the future of NationStates, and many will tell you that it is dying, however in my recent experience of running a region I find this not to be so. If you're prepared to work hard it's still possible to create a good region capable of rising to an important place on the NS world stage.
Just my thoughts,
Kaiserin Griffin
Founder of The New Inquisition
