There is NOTHING wrong about being graphic!
BTW - the reason that lightsabres do not mess is because the heat of the glowing sword burns and seals the cut vessels. Honestly, when Qui-Gon / Obi-Wan / Darth Vader / the-bad-guy-at-the-Moss-Eisly-Cantina are chopped down, there is a potential mess but due to sabreglow and Lucas' taste, there's very little blood.
But hey, blood helps rating a good movie, doesn't it?
(Or a bad one, it was the amount of blood that turned '1492' into a nightmare of ill proportions in stead of an epic adventure. Now THERE'S a bad movie!!!)
