Angelus: In 1753, Galway, Ireland, Angel, or Liam as he was known then was a young scoundrel intent upon filching some of his father's silver to buy himself a night of love at the local brothel or plenty of alcohol. He met Darla in an alley way where she sired him. In 1860, he drove Drusilla mad, killed her family and sired her into the vampire. When he killed the favourite daughter of the Kalderash people, they restored his soul, forcing him to live with all his crimes.

The Master: Aged at approximately 600 years old, the Master arrived in Sunnydale and was trapped by an earthquake underground in a church. The Master managed to fulfill the prophecy and killed Buffy, albeit briefly, before escaping and walking on Earth. Buffy finally killed him, and when his followers tried to bring him back, she ground his bones to dust.

Spike: Also known as 'William The Bloody' Spike's first appearance was in School Hard. We learn that he as faced and killed two Slayers before he met Buffy. He moved to Sunnydale with his girlfriend, Drusilla.

In season 4, Government officials put a chip in his head, preventing him from hurting any living thing. It was during this time he realises he is in love with Buffy. In a bid to redeem himself and win Buffy's affections, he starts fighting alongside Buffy and the Scoobies. In the final fight he makes the ultimate sacrifice and gives up his life for Buffy and the other Slayers.

Drusilla: Driven crazy by Angelus in 1860, she met Spike and became his sire. Drusilla has prescient dreams and although seen through her madness, Spike interprets them everytime. At some point, Drusilla has had a relationship of some sort with Angel. Drusilla kills her first slayer in Kendra. Drusilla leaves Sunnydale with Spike and never returns.

Darla: A member of the Bretheren of Aurelius, she is the first vampire we see in the series. Darla was The Masters favourite and in her time in Sunnydale, she bit Jesse as well as Buffy's mother, an attack for which she tried to frame Angel.

The Anointed One: The Anointed one, in life was a sweet and innocent looking boy named Colin. He leads Buffy to The Master and, ultimately, her death.

Luke: It is a measure of Buffy strength that she faces Luke and survives. Luke becomes 'The vessel' for the Master and while feeding is killed by Buffy.

Dalton: Unlike every other vampire, Dalton seems quiet and bookish. He is attempting to translate an ancient manuscript that Spike hopes will cure Drusilla. An interesting character, despite his few appearances, Dalton meets an untimely end as the Judge's first meal.

Claw: AKA 'Fork-Guy' was once a member of the Bretheren of Aurelius,. Apparently he "displeased the master and cut off his own hand as penance." Claw is stalking people in Weatherly Park and fights Buffy early on. Claw is frightened away by Natalie French and Buffy uses this to her advantage to track Ms. French down.

The Three: The Three are a trio of inposing warriors, muscular, battle-scarred vampires who dress in leather and body armour. When they fail in their mission to kill Buffy, they offer up their lives as penance. Darla kills them on the Masters behalf.

Lyle and Tector Gorch: These vampire cowboy brothers arrive in Sunnydale for no real reason other than to cause trouble. Lyle tangles with Buffy first then both boys encounter the Slayer. Originally from Abeline, Texas, they massacred and entire village in 1886, and that was before they became vampires. Tector is killed by Bezoar and Lyle runs away. He returns in the next season and mistakes Cordelia as a Slayer, who yells at him and he flees again!

Absalom: Absalom is the mouth-piece for the Anointed One. Absalom is basically the spokesman for the Brethren of Aurelius. He is killed when Buffy shoves a torch in his face.

St. Vigeous: St. Vigeous was sort of the patron saint of vampires. The feast of St. Vigeous is when vampires are at their strongest

Candy Gorch: Wife of Lyle, Candy returns with him to take part in SlayerFest and kill Buffy as a wedding present to Lyle for Tector's death. She fails and Buffy kills her

Kakistos: A vampire so old his hands and feet are cloven. His name is Greek and means 'worst of the worst'. He goes to Sunnydale to kill Faith who blinded him in one eye and scarred his face after he killed her Watcher. He also fails and Faith kills him,

Mr. Trick: Trick is Kakistos' 'right-hand man' and the organiser of SlayerFest. After the death of Kakistos, Trick is offered a job with the Mayor, which he accepts. On a kob for the Mayor, he attacks Buffy and Faith kills him to protect her.

Vampire Willow: Originally seen in 'The Wish' it wasn't until 'Dopplegangland' the Willow's leather-clad, evil and gay alter-ego comes into her own. After being brought into this reality by a spell that went wrong, she sets about trying to change it so that vampires rule everything. On meeting the 'regular' Willow, she tries to 'cnvert' her, in every sense of the word, but fails. In the final fight with Buffy, she survives as no-one feels they can kill her. Instead they cast a spell to send her back to her own reality where they feel she will fair much better. Unknown to the Scoobies, vampire Willow is killed by Oz as soon as she returns to her dimension!

Harmony and her minions: Hamony was an ex student of Sunnydale high and best friends with Cordelia, but after the big battle with the mayor she was turned into a vampire, appearing back in Sunnydale with Spike, her new found boyfriend, she first made herself known by trying to attack Willow. After some time she split with Spike and found her own minions, and tried to kill the slayer, even though she failed, Harmony still lives and is now working for Angel in L.A.

Dracula: It is un-known how old Dracula is, he became famous when he sold his story to a writer named Bram Stoker, claiming that he was the first original vampire, he was unlike other vampires, as he prefered to live in luxury rather than a crypt and had to have his special dirt, he also used gypsy magycks to shapeshift into a wolf or a bat and also had the ability to hypnotise people, he also prefered to form a relationship with his victims rather than just hunt.

However when he attempted to do this with Buffy, he failed and was killed by her.

Ubervamps: The army of the First, they were the cavemen of vampires, very powerful and difficult to kill. Buffy's first encounter with the Ubervamp ended badly, however she succeeded in killing it only to discover later that the Hellmouth was teaming with millions of them. They were successfully killed in the final battle when Spike, whilst wearing the amulet, sacrificed himself to save the world.

Vampire Xander: Appeared when Cordelia wished that Buffy had never came to Sunnydale, he was partners with vampire Willow who together were the right hand of The Master. He was staked by Buffy.
