Yes, you're opening line is so true! Tonga - is a place like no other!
I first went to Tonga in 1995 and i loved it so much that i have been back there once a year every year. I Had an arrange marriage, cancelled it, went to Uk to work and then returned to Tonga, i missed the unconditional godly love of a warm people that i could not find elsewhere in the world.
Much respect to the UK still of course with all it's history and culture. www.royal.gov.uk is a useful website and BP (Buckingham Palace is a must see for all visitors to UK)
Other useful Tongan websites are www.tongaholiday.com, www.palaceoffice.gov.to, www.matangitonga.to, www.pmo.gov.to, www.marketonga.to (for rental houses if you want to stay in tonga)
The HM King Siaosi George Tupou V's coronation is on this 30 July-3rd Aug,08 more information at www.palaceoffice.gov.to
HM King Siaosi George Tupou V's late grandmother Queen Salote attended HM Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953.
Respectfully,
Malia Fleming
(Queen Salote of Tonga's younger sister Princess Fakatoumafi's grandaughter)

Hello Malia, How wonderful to have Tongan Royalty read my guide entry. I'm glad that you agree with the opening statement.
I loved it - particularly the northern islands - but I've not been back since 1998. Goodness, that's 10 years now!
I shall return....
