u - hold your tongue in the position for 'ooh' and say 'ee'.

It's rather the opposite :

the tongue has to be kept in the same position than for a 'ee' and the lips rounded like for a 'oo'

then, when practising, start by saying 'ee' (your lips are retracted), now put your lips forward, like for whistling, without changing your tongue position
