The Gulf of Mexico is also sometimes called the Gulf of California and Sea of Cortez. Just thought it was worth mentioning.

The Gulf of California is on the west side of Mexico, the Gulf of Mexico is to the east, and is much larger.

Blimey. I got a bit confused there. I used to be good at geography too.
Well, there is a body of water, bordered by Mexico, that is called the Gulf of California and/or the Sea of Cortez. So there.

I was waiting in a midwest airport for a flight back home to Houston. Sitting in the bar talking to some people trying to get to the East coast, they heard me mention sailing and asked "Where can you sail in Texas?" I replied, "Well, there's Galveston Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, ..." They said, "Oh, yeah, right!" People from the Left and Right coasts tend to forget about the 3rd coast.
