That's an excellent article! Well done!
My question is: How can we be absolutely sure that there are no Neanderthalers remaining alive? I read somewhere that if you dressed one in modern clothes and gave him a suitable haircut he could pass unnoticed in a New York street.

I think you're thinking of Straus and Cave (1957):
"Notwithstanding, if he could be reincarnated and placed in a New York subway - provided that he were bathed, shaved, and dressed in modern clothing - it is doubtful whether he would attract any more attention than some of its other denizens".
You'd still have to hide features like the brow and (lack of) chin, so there are certainly no neanderthals alive today - though we may all have partly neanderthal ancestry. So perhaps they do live on as us!

Well fancy finding that!
I used to work with a guy who had no chin. I don't think he was a 100% Neanderthal though.
