Sam, I found an error in the editing. One of the sentences was changed to read "When your engine is running a chemical reaction, the oxygen sensor generates a signal that is sent to the ECU. "
It should read "When your engine is running, a chemical reaction in the oxygen sensor generates a signal that is sent to the ECU."
Smada Salguod posted a minor clarification back in February and I didn't notice it until today, "An O2 sensor signal of 0V to .49V indicates a lean condition and a signal of .51V to 1V indicates a rich condition."
This is correct, but I think it would be better stated "An O2 sensor voltage of less than 0.50V indicates a lean condition and a signal over 0.50V indicates a rich condition."
Looking at the article (I haven't had a whole lot of time to study it) I'm not sure where to put this, maybe as note #3.
Thank you for the editing, it looks pretty good. I would have posted earlier but I've been having ISP problems.

Wow, thanks for the editing. It's kinda nice to see it cleaned up and presented.
One last correction:
"(OBD) came about in 1996 model vehicles, due to the United States setting standards for emissions systems and diagnostic capabilities. OBD II came about in 1998 model vehicles."
OBD and OBD II were government standards for On-Board Diagnostics systems. In addition to several emission law changes, they mandated that all manufacturers use the same connector plug so that small auto repair shops could use a scan tool to read any car that came in.
"The United States set new standards for emissions systems and diagnostic capabilities in 1996 model vehicles. The standards are known as OBD. OBD II came about in 1998 model vehicles."
Thanks again, I know straightening out that mess that was the original article must have been difficult.
Key: Complain about this post
