Gone but not forgotten 1
Created | Updated Jan 28, 2004
It's your everyday tale of boy meets girl, boy sneaks girl into school, girl rips out boys throat..... Then that music starts for the very first time and you're on an exhilarating seven year journey.
Quite how Buffy the Vampire Slayer made it to our screens is a tale of people trusting instincts rather than a successful film heritage (it wasn't). It's also the story of Joss Whedon, a young and talented writer whose hopes hadn't been quashed by the creative meddling in the film. It was he who filmed the small scale pilot of how he saw Buffy, and it was he who realized its potential throughout its 7 year run. This wasn't a show desperately reinventing itself at every turn, there were plans there and you could see them right from the start.
The first hints of Buffy's attraction were clear, the darkness clashing with her struggle to be 'normal'. Her friends proving invaluable, and background characters are welcomed into the fold with ease. There are villians called Colin who are still scary and we're on first name terms with a vampire.
We get o good look at how dark and dangerous this world is... It's a big world, and we've only just entered it!!
