The only people who should live in the Inland Empire are those that came from Michigan and don't know any better. The only truthful part of the name is Inland. If you like living miles from the ocean in a hot, smoggy valley and enjoy spending hours on the freeway to get to a job in Los Angeles or Orange County, go for it.

Or, if you're so inclined, you could live in Los Angeles or Orange County, and spend hours on the freeway getting to work, going shopping, visiting friends, going out on the town, or anything else that requires traveling more than 3 blocks from Point A to Point B.
Hot, yes. Smoggy, yes. But the traffic situation is FAR better... unless, as you've said, you're dumb enough to seek work in LA or OC.
I lived in the IE, moved away from the state, and came back to Southern California. I actually intended on settling in OC. I started working there. And then I took a look around, said "not me," and ended up living and working in the IE anyway.
The best laid plans...
If the traffic is so great in OC, why did I nearly end up on the receiving end of 3 road-rage incidents in 3 months? Meanwhile, 2 years into living and working in the IE, I'm still looking forward to my first one.
As for LA... it's LA. 'Nuff said.
