A Conversation for The Goon Show

The Goon Show was punctuated by two musical interludes with crossover.
There was the aforementioned "big band" item. One of the musicians, George Chisholm - top trombonist and a Scot - occasionally took part in the story as a kitsch Scotsman speaking over the sound of bagpipes.
The other interlude was provided by the Ray Ellington Quartet. Ray sang and played bongo drums - and frequently took part in the plot. Ray a "black man" often played a manservant "Ellinga" and did an "Uncle Tom" voice "Yes bwana".
A particularly memorable exchange when some metal working was needed:
"Are you a blacksmith?"
(Rich deep voice) "My name's Smith an' you got eyes."
No malice, just humour. Remember times were simpler then.
