Scientists from Durham Uni believe tht climate change after the last Ice Age, 21000 years ago, led to warmer temperatures and consequent loss of grassland. This was a major factor in the extinction of 'mega-mammals such as the mammoth. They think this could be a model for what may happen as a result of rapid climate change.
