A Conversation for Halloween

Maybe I'm misinformed, or maybe there are differences in how the "old" culture thought about halloween but from what I heard about it there are 2 differences from what's discribed in this article. So here's my .5 c.

1. It was believed that in this night evil spirits would roam, so people would come together for protection and disguise themselves because the spirits couldn't harm you if they didn't know who you were.

2. The dead would rise from their graves to protect the living. This was why the living would put candles on the graves of loved ones, so that when they rised, they would be able to see and find their way home.

In the village where I was born, This custom is still going on, although now because of the All Saints Eve.
