h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

First the good points. Booze is cheap, there are some great night clubs very much in the late 60s, early 70s style. Some play host to excellent contemporary jazz. Street caffes can be brilliant in the summer, as well as the market stalls, barter always pays off.
The central book depository is an absolute must, see the inside, the outside and even go get lift to the top for the views, must not be missed.

I'd like to add aboyt the lovely little park with the tomb of the unkmown soldier in. Very nice park, nice bit of sun you can catch in there. And everything is cheap. The train stations are a wee bit grotty though.

Sure, I was in a hurry when I did the little piece.
The stations are weird, but when I was there, the trains ran +/- 45 seconds from the sceduled times, try that on our services!
The tomb, and other memorials were very touching. The few hours we had simply could not do justice.
Something surrealistic about the entire country, perhaps it was me.
