A Conversation for Prague, Czech Republic

Eatin' an' drinkin'

Top Cat

I remember a particularly wet afternoon where I went on a cafe/pub crawl around the old town with my girlfriend. The best bit was watching the lightning from the Gulu Gulu cafe while drinking a hot chocolate. I think we had two each - the best hot choccie I've had in a long time. The food was pretty good as I remember as well.
There's also a pretty neat pub called U Krale somethingorother that's down a wee sort of lane thing and down some stairs. This is probably not a very good descripton if you're trying to get there. But it's basically just a beer hall - like most of the traditional pubs in Prague you take a seat at one of the big tables and ask the waiter for a beer. When your glass is empty that's pretty much sign lanuage for "more beer please." If you really fancy it you can go to the Irish bar upstairs and pay ten times as much for a Guiness but it's worth checking out. If only I could remember where it was or what it was called. Arse.
The lanuage in the Czech Republic is a bit of a pain for English speakers to pick up but it pays at least to ask someone how to say 'thankyou,' especially when they're bringing you beer on a regular basis.
