Jewishgen.org, which is a website for those searching for jewish ancestors, has a search engine which searches using a system called the Daitch-Mokotoff system. This searches not just for names that are spelt differently but similarly, such as Shriberg and Schreiberg, but also names that SOUND alike. It's a brilliant system. Does anyone know if there is a non-Jewish version or something similar we could recommend?

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
