u sed that on the internet footnotes r annoyin cuz u hafta keep scrollin up & down, but on h2g2 that seems 2 have been resolved. u can read a footnote by jus resting your cursor over the little number link thingy (soz, i dont know the proper terms for such things!)

soz if this is common knowledge 2 every1 else, but i jus fuond it out & thought this would b the best place 2 broadcast my newly found piece of info to the world (well, those parts of it that r sensible enuff 2 use h2g2 neway!)

Unfortuneatly, I've been told that only works with IEsmiley - sadface... But I have found that you can click on the number of the footnote (in the footnote list), and it will take you back to the text where you came across it in the first place. (smiley - erm...Well, *I* know what I mean smiley - winkeye) Of course, that means you may have to hit the back button many times to get back to where you entered the entry from. (OK, so I seem to be doomed to incomprehensbility...)

The Dancing Tree

Well, the article was written in 1999, well before the introduction of the hyperlinked footnotes. However, the jarring flip up and down is still annoying in my opinion! Footnotes are evil! smiley - smiley
