A Conversation for Marmite

Marmite crisps

The so-called Marmite crisps Walkers are currently selling are nowhere near Marmite-y enough - and they taste suspiciously Bovrilish. Sainsburys used to sell Marmite crisps in great big party-bags - which I could snaffle down in one sitting! And I was not the only fan - Sainsbury's Marmite crisps featured as one of their Top 100 best-selling lines. I could never understand why they stopped making them. Now I suspect it is because Walkers came along and bought the rights. I wish they'd bought the recipe as well.....

Couldn't agree more. Bovril and Marmite are made in the same factory in Branston, Burton on trent. (Yes where the pickle came from) Smacks of cross-contamination to me!

And there was me thinking that the reason Walkers only sell Marmite crisps in variety packs was to help them get rid of the disgusting Branston Pickle and Tomato Ketchup flavours! (I wonder if Walkers could be caught under the Trades Descriptions Act, seeing as how none of these items taste anything like their purported flavourings...)

Hmm. Well I really enjoyed the Walker's Marmitey crisps, until my final packet. For some reason its contents tasted rather "off". All the others had at least tasted vaguely like Marmite, but these were more like Beef, or something. I was going to write off and complain, but then I realised I couldn't be bothered.
