The cable car is an invention which allows small groups of people to travel in a completely irrational and unnatural way up unfeasibly tall mountains which they shouldn't be up in the first place.

Put simply, it is a large box, suspended on a thick cable, which is used for climbing these mountains without walking. The cable car is driven by the pendulum force of another car which travels in the opposite direction.
