A trolley bus is a bus which does not run on rails but has a conducting arm which runs along a pair of overhead power cables, making it look a little like a trolley.

Thanks. That sounds interesting, I don't think we have such buses here. We either have trams which run on rails, or buses which drive on roads, and nothing in between.

They had trolleybuses in Athens last time I was there, but that was a while ago

I've never been to Athens. Maybe they have trolley buses in Munich, who knows? I've never been to Munich, either.

We had them in Hull up to the mid '60's

Without too much guesswork, I'd say that B'El probably hasn't been to pre-1960s Hull. Shame really - it was probably quite nice.

They have trams and trolley buses in Budapest. They are dangerous as they accelerate very fast but make no noise!

Oh, yeah, I didn't make it clear. I was talking about the trolley buses. The trolley buses are on normal rubber tyres and only have electric motors which are virtually silent and there is no rail noise.

I've been to Geneva, but don't remember them - but then that was nearly 30 years ago. I think somebody will have to write an entry about Trolley buses.
