A Conversation for Cinema Popcorn

Market research has proven that there is a small percentage of the movie-going, popcorn-consuming public that actually prefers their corn unpopped. However to have two popcorn poppers producing the popped and unpopped varieties would be far too costly.
Therefore cinemas choose to simply have the one machine set a couple of degrees below what would be necessary to pop ALL the corn. They then simply serve all who would want popcorn (popped or not) from this communal vessel. This means that approximately 15-20% of the popcorn you purchase is in a state of poplessness.
Which is fine if you prefer your (un)popcorn this way, but for the rest of us with merely mortal teeth, it means grinding or sucking away on an increasing mass of kernel mash, for a good portion of the movie. This is because most of the unpopped kernels will be encountered BEFORE you reach the bottom of the bag/box so you will have nowhere else to put them until you do.
