Sometimes congregations are too ready to respond.
I knew of one bishop who was visiting a parish with a complicated micropohone system in the pulpit. He tried to turn it on in the normal way but nothing happened. He looked at the congregation and said, without them hearing properly, "There's something wrong with the mike."
They replied enthusiastically, "And also with you!"
