Just a little more information for you - I work for BTCellnet and their IVR is unbelievable! It's been changed recently to automatically take the CLI information if you dial on your mobile and direct you to the right department - for example if you have a pay and go phone it is physically very difficult to get through to network services, who handle contract phones. A good idea in theory, but not when you are in the centre of Manchester at 3 in the morning trying to report a stolen contract phone by dialling in on the only thing available, which happens to be a prepay phone. Hearing an answering message saying 'the prepay department is now closed' is not particularly reassuring.
One of the tasks I had to do at work was map out the entire IVR as it was confusing advisors! There are something like 13 sections with about 4 options coming off each. It took me several hours and left me scratching my head a lot as it was so fiendishly twisted. God help the customers who have to try and pick their way through it!
