A Conversation for Punch and Judy
PUNCH and JUDY

We are having a Punch and Judy day in Herne Bay on 3rd or 4th july and the place will be filled with Punch and Judy shows all along the front. There are the traditional with the Hangman and the Jail and then there are the politically correct who no longer batter Judy or the baby. I love them all and if the kids took more notice of this harmless fun instead of glueing themselves to their X-box of PS2 perhaps we would have nicer teenagers.

Great stuff! I couldn't agree more that it's daft to make Punch and Judy politically correct. The games kids think up for themselves are often more violent and distressing to politically correct adults than a Punch and Judy show. It's more damaging, I suspect, to cut kids off from their cultural roots. Far better, in my opinion, to teach children about the relevance of P&J and to make sure that they understand why clubbing your wife and turning baby into sausages is a bad thing, even if it is funny when Punch does it.

Um... I like console games AND P&J. And I'm a teenager, & I'm not THAT deranged.
